About the treatment
A heavy and voluminous bust can lead to back and neck problems, skin irritation under the breasts, or difficulty finding clothes that fit.
A breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty) is a surgical procedure where part of the breast's tissue, skin, fat, and/or glandular tissue is removed to reduce size, weight, and strain.
We combine functional and aesthetic goals to alleviate physical discomfort while providing a harmonious and natural appearance.
Incision Techniques
We use two main techniques, selected based on your anatomy and your goals:
L-incision: The incision goes from the nipple down to the crease and only in one direction under the crease, forming an "L".
T-incision: The traditional incision goes from the nipple down to the crease and further into the crease under the breast, forming an upside-down "T".
The advantage of the L-incision is less visible scarring and a more graceful and round shape. Dr. Katia Gomes is particularly specialized in this technique.
Benefits of Breast Reduction
A breast reduction can alleviate back, neck, and shoulder pain, as well as reduce skin irritation and pressure from bra straps. Many also find it easier to find clothes that fit and that their mobility is improved. The procedure contributes to more proportionate shapes and often leads to high patient satisfaction.
