About the treatment
Having a soft, toned abdomen is something many of us strive for. Sometimes, unfortunately, exercise and a proper diet are not enough, even for individuals with normal body weight and body fat percentage. Common causes include pregnancy, aging, significant weight fluctuations, and genetic factors.
With the help of a tummy tuck, excess skin and fat can be removed, and in the vast majority of cases, weakened or separated abdominal muscles can also be restored. This creates a smoother, more toned abdominal profile.
We offer different types of tummy tucks, and the treatment is tailored to your individual needs, whether you require an extensive surgery or a minor adjustment. During a personal consultation, you will receive guidance on which type of tummy tuck is best suited to achieve your goals and desires.
It is important to remember that a tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an exercise program. A tummy tuck also does not eliminate stretch marks, although they may be partially improved if there is sufficient excess skin in the operated area.
Full Abdominoplasty (Standard)
A full abdominoplasty involves surgically removing excess skin and fat from the entire abdomen, tightening the abdominal muscles, and adjusting the relationship between the abdominal skin and the belly button. After events like pregnancy, the abdominal muscles often separate; bringing them back together not only improves appearance but also posture and can relieve back pain.
The incision is placed along the bikini line. The size of the incision varies from patient to patient depending on the amount of skin that needs to be treated.
Abdominoplasty with a T-incision
In certain cases with extensive excess skin, such as after massive weight loss, an inverted T-incision or fleur-de-lis incision is used. This method allows for a more extensive skin reduction and a significantly improved waist contour, but results in a more visible scar compared to a traditional tummy tuck.
Mini Abdominoplasty
A mini abdominoplasty is a popular alternative. It primarily targets the lower part of the abdomen below the belly button through a shorter incision and can be combined with liposuction for better results.
Muscle separation can sometimes be corrected, but the relationship between the belly button and the abdominal skin is not adjusted, so there is usually no scar around the belly button.
Total Body Lift
For more extensive excess skin that also affects the sides and back of the body, a circular body procedure, known as a belt lipectomy or total body lift, may be a suitable option. This involves removing excess skin from around the entire torso.
In addition to improving the contour of the abdomen, the procedure can also provide a lifting effect on the outer thighs and buttock area, resulting in a more proportioned and balanced body contour.
Benefits of Abdominoplasty for Body and Mind
Abdominoplasty can provide more than just a flatter stomach; many also experience increased self-esteem and an improved quality of life after the procedure.
By removing excess skin and fat and strengthening the abdominal muscles, you can achieve a more proportioned and harmonious body shape, improved posture, and a potential reduction in back pain. You may also experience increased comfort in clothing and during movement, as well as a treatment tailored to your individual circumstances and goals.
