About the treatment
Intimate surgery is a collective term for surgical treatments of the female genital area. The most common form is labiaplasty, where the inner labia (labia minora) are corrected, but the outer labia (labia majora) and the mons pubis can also be treated.
All women have a unique anatomy, and the variation in size and shape of the labia is great. In some cases, however, changes in the tissues can cause both physical and aesthetic discomfort. With the help of intimate surgery, one can improve both comfort, symmetry, and proportions in the area.
The incisions are placed along the natural contour of the labia to make the scars as discreet as possible.
The operation is completed with absorbable sutures, which means that the stitches dissolve on their own and do not need to be removed.
Labiaplasty
In a labiaplasty, excess skin is removed from the inner labia to reduce their size and improve symmetry.
The purpose of the treatment is to reduce the length of the labia, improve symmetry, reduce friction and irritation, and create a more harmonious shape.
The operation does not affect the structures that are important for sexual stimulation, as these lie deeper in the area around the clitoris and clitoral hood.
Treatment of the outer labia
In some cases, the outer labia (labia majora) can also be treated. This can involve reducing excess skin, reducing volume if the area is prominent, and improving symmetry.
In some patients, the opposite situation may occur, where the outer labia have lost volume over time. In these cases, the volume can be improved through fat grafting, where the body's own fat is used to restore a more natural shape.
Treatment of the mons pubis
In some cases, the mons pubis (venus mound) can also be perceived as prominent or voluminous.
This can sometimes make the area clearly visible through tight clothing or swimwear.
The treatment can then consist of liposuction of the mons pubis and a lift of the area, a technique that can resemble a mini tummy tuck, to create a more harmonious contour in the area.
