About the treatment
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a light-based treatment used to treat visible blood vessels in the skin, known as telangiectasia, as well as redness in the skin and around scars.
The method is based on the selective absorption of light energy by the hemoglobin in the blood. When the light is absorbed, the energy is converted into heat, causing the small blood vessels to coagulate and gradually be broken down by the body.
After the treatment, you can often see reduced redness, fewer visible blood vessels, and a more even skin tone.
In many cases, multiple treatments are recommended to achieve optimal results, as the vessels are gradually reduced over time.
Telangiectasia
Telangiectasia are small dilated blood vessels located superficially in the skin. They are often seen on the face, especially on the nose, cheeks, and chin.
These vessels can occur due to genetic factors, sun damage, or skin conditions such as rosacea.
IPL treatment can selectively target these vessels without damaging the surrounding skin, making the method an effective treatment for this type of skin lesion.
IPL for redness in scars
After surgery or skin injuries, scars can sometimes remain red or inflamed for a longer period. This is often due to increased blood vessel formation in the scar tissue.
In these cases, IPL can help reduce redness in scars, reduce visible vessels in scar tissue, and improve the skin's color and smoothness.
The treatment is often used as a complement to other scar treatments to improve the aesthetic result.
