About the treatment
Thigh lift is a plastic surgery procedure aimed at improving the shape of the thighs by removing excess skin and sometimes also fatty tissue.
In some individuals, the skin on the thighs can become loose or sagging. This can occur after major weight loss, with advancing age, or due to the skin's natural elasticity. When the skin loses its elasticity, excess skin can form that does not go away despite exercise or weight loss.
With the help of a thigh lift, you can create firmer skin, smoother contours, and more harmonious proportions in the legs.
After the operation, one can often see firmer skin on the thighs, reduced excess skin, an improved leg contour, as well as less skin chafing against each other.
The placement of the incisions depends on how much skin needs to be removed. Common options are an incision in the groin along the bikini line, an incision along the inside of the thigh, or a combination of both techniques. The goal is always to place the scars as discreetly as possible.
Liposuction or thigh lift?
The choice of treatment depends on the cause of the problem. If the thighs primarily have fat accumulation, liposuction can sometimes be sufficient to improve the contour.
If, on the other hand, the problem is due to excess skin, liposuction is often not enough, as the skin cannot always contract after fat has been removed.
In these cases, a thigh lift, where the excess skin is surgically removed, can provide a better result.
In many situations, liposuction and skin resection are combined to create a more harmonious thigh contour.
